Author’s note: I wasn’t very happy with the previous stuffed parathas I made. They were good but not extraordinary. So, I made them again with my own twists and turns and they turned out to be much better. Infact, it added the ‘extra’ to the ‘ordinary’.
Coming to the interesting title- 3 words, 10 lines(150-160 words)…I wanted to come up with a story using 3 words in it and in not more than ten lines. It was pretty fun actually…Nominate yourselves if you’ll want to take part. It will completely be your wish to participate or to not and also to keep the chain alive.
The three words I randomly selected from a pool of chits are: ring, train, stranger.
Things haven’t been going really too well for Meesha for the past few hours, ever since she lost her engagement ring. It was embedded with the rarest of pearls. Counch pearl, he had called it. She hadn’t even known something like that existed. The ring was a thin gold band with minute diamonds placed into it, making it all the more precious. What made it the most precious was it’s age and it’s previous owners. It was the heritage ring of her fiancé’s family.
As she sat at the station waiting for the train to come to her rescue(obviously running away was the only option.), she tried to remember for the one last time, when she had last seen that ring. Just then she gets a call from him. In anger she shuts the phone to face a blank screen showing her, her reflection. But, she couldn’t recognise that coward of a stranger staring back at her. She knew now what the other option was……
INGREDIENTS & METHOD:
- 1 1/2 cups of wheat flour + 1/4 cup soya flour
- Home made paneer/cottage cheese. Keep the whey water aside. I made paneer with 1/2 litre milk
- salt to taste
- ajwain- 1tsp
- cumin powder- 1 tsp
- 1-2 chopped green chilli
- chopped coriander
- kasoori methi- 2 tsps.
- 1 boiled potato-big
- Garam masala- 1 tsp. I made this wonderful garam masala which I used. In case you’ll want the recipe let me know.
Method:
Add enough whey water to the flour little by little until a tight dough is obtained and knead this well for 10 minutes. Cover it with a damp muslin cloth and set aside for 15-20 minutes.
In a bowl, mix rest of the ingredients.
Separate both into 4 equal parts. keep the remaining dough always covered. Roll out one portion into a small 4 cm radius circle. And pleat it as seen in the pic after placing a portion of the stuffing.
Pinch the tip tightly. Then flatten it with your palms. Even out the pleats and spread the stuffing with.
Roll out this into a 7-8 cm radius paratha. Roast it on a tawa on medium flame with ghee, continuously flipping it and brushing ghee on both side..
The final and much better outcome than the previous time.
With warm regards,
Lina
