Wedding Day/ Stuffed Paneer Parathas

I sketched something after a really long time, probably after a year I guess. I was never actually trained, so this was just a  copy of a pic from Google.  I really enjoyed drawing it. Once it turned out okayish, I decided to write a story about it.
I hope you’ ll try the parathas too. I learned it from a Punjabi aunty who stays in my apartment. They were really amazing and she was just too good with the dough. They were so soft and fresh. I came back home and gave it a shot and guess what, it turned out to be amazing!!!!!!! I made it them in the night, so the pics aren’t too bright.

WEDDING DAY

    A woman’s mind is always filled with thoughts…different thoughts. Sometimes happy ones, sometimes sad ones or beautiful ones or vivid imaginations or so many other things that our fingers cannot count….
Similarly, Giselle’s was occupied with some thoughts that no one would ever know except her, as she sat there, eyes closed, in a beautiful white gown and her hair tied up high into a gorgeous knot, on a bench in the courtyard of the church, all alone. She looked beautiful, but the intense thoughts running in her mind made her look dull and confused, it stole that wedding glow….
Long time ago, many had told her, ‘Somewhere ages and ages hence:Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-/I took the one less traveled by,/And that has made all the difference.’…but no one had told her which was the road that was less travelled by. Even now as she looked up to see the church stairs leading upto the altar and the road leading away from it, she didn’t know which one to take. She didn’t even know which one would make ‘the difference’, yet she kept staring at the joint. She was blank and it showed. Blankness is often annoying in plain words. So her face looked more annoyed now. Annoyance leads to anger and so on did her facial expression change. As her face shuffled  various expressions, she finally realised her mind was playing games with her. She had to make a decision in order to put a full stop to her confused thoughts. She slowly walked upto the joint, only to feel more confused.. Something the struck her…
Her choices had always been very controlled, she can’t even remember the one time it hadn’t had an opinion of someone else’s in it. She closed her eyes for the one last time, and threw her bouquet into the air with a jump and started running towards her freedom, just like she used to run to touch the sun at the horizon as a kid…….Her face finally looked happy….

 

INGREDIENTS & METHOD:

1. 3 cups of wheat flour + 1/2 cup soya flour
2. Home made paneer/cottage cheese. Keep the whey water aside. I made paneer with 1/2 litre milk
3. salt to taste
4. ajwain- 1tsp
5. cumin powder- 1 tsp
6. chilli powder- 1 tsp
7. chopped coriander
8. 1/2 cup chopped onions

Method:

Add enough whey water to the flour and knead well for a while. Cover it with a muslin cloth and set aside for 15 minutes.

Mix rest of the ingredients well.

Set aside 6 equal parts of both. Take out one portion of the dough and roll it out.

Keep 1 portion of the paneer mixture on it.

Now fold it as seen in the picture below. And with both your palms roll it into a sphere.

Again take the rolling pin and roll it out into a circular paratha.If the paneer starts oozing out through the sides then slightly tap the edges with your hands. Fry it on a tava with only ghee. I think it was around 6-8 cm in radius.
